Joli Vyann’s new duet, ‘Life’s a Beach’ is a joyous, if not a little chaotic window into a day at the beach. It is a fun and playful observation of family life at the beach, and touches on more serious issues such as sewage in our seas and antisocial behaviour.
Using their unique style of dance/ circus fusion, Joli Vyann’s latest work is familiar, nostalgic and funny. A life cycle played by a couple living by the sea from their ‘20s to old age, this show presents hilarious scenarios of selfie obsessions, obnoxious beach behaviour and embarrassing swimwear. As the show progresses, audience members have been moved to tears by the moving scenarios of friendship, beach meditation, dog walking, and the couple growing old together. The movement language is dance and acrobatic fusion, dynamic, graceful and theatrical.
Having created the show in collaboration with local people from Bournemouth, UK to get under the skin of both the residents' experience of tourism and tourists' experiences of visiting the area, the show is rooted in local stories that is relatable across countries and without borders.
The show can play in one set location, or it can roam to 2 locations, and it plays in the rain.
